Junior Club: Last week was a very positive week for Ballykisteen Golf Club with two of our junior teams representing our club. First up was our Fred Perry team who traveled to Castletroy Golf Club and defeated the home team on a score of 3-2.
Our team was Luke McIntire, Bobby O'Riordan, Sean O'Donnell, Mark Ryan, Cillian Holmes, Aaron Hackett Congratulations to the team and manager Kaelin O'Keeffe on their great win.
Next our Junior Foursomes team played away to Charleville but despite playing some very good golf just came up short. Great performance away from home in their first foursomes competition. Our team was Rhys O'Riordan and Sam Walsh, Bobby O'Riordan and Scott O Connor.

Mens Senior Cup Competition: Congratulations to Our Senior Cup Team; who were victorious over Clonmel Golf Club in Clonmel. The team was as follows; Adam Buckley, Andrew Burke, Daniel Devlin, Paul O’Connor and Brian Everard, with Shane Doyle in reserve. The team was managed by Joe Murray; congratulations Joe.
Barton Shield Team: Our Barton Shield Team were out against Thurles in Dundrum. The team members were; Paul O’Connor and Daniel Devlin, Adam Buckley and Andrew Burke. Despite an excellent performance they were finished in second place to Thurles.
Pierce Purcell Team: Congratulations to our Pierce Purcell Team who were victorious over Templemore in Dundrum in an exciting final where Templemore were taken up the 19th by Captain Danny O’Dwyer and Ken Whelan to snatch a sweet victory. The players were; Joe Murray and Jimmy Heffernan, Hugh Hennessey and L J Ryan, Captain Danny O’Dwyer and Ken Whelan, Liam Ryan (Con) and Adrian O’Dwyer, Subs Seamus O’Dwyer and PJ Kelly. The team was managed by Vice Captain Colm Taylor. Well done Colm and all your team.
Midweek 9-hole competition May 19-23 was won by Daithi Maher with 21 points, in 2nd place Peter Clarke with 19 points. Best Gross; Paddy Fitzgerald with 18 points.
The Two’s winners were Thomas O’Donovan, Aidan Murphy, Declan O’Dwyer and Laurance Hickey.
Ladies Golf: Our Tuesday morning ladies enjoyed a lovely morning at Thurles golf club where they played a scramble and the winning ladies included Libby Ryan, Kitty Byrne, Sadie Quirke and Katleen Smyth.
On Thursday we had a 9hole qualifier. The winners were; 1st Amy O’Sullivan (32.7) 22pts. 2nd Marie Horgan (18.7) 20pts. Gross Frances Boyle (13.3) 13 grosspts.
Ladies Challenge Trophy: Our Challenge Trophy Ladies team; Kitty Byrne, Sadie Quirke, Rena Ryan, Carmel Lowth, Marie Holohan and reserve Catherine Moloney and Maura Maher went out last Sunday, May 26 to represent the club against Clonmel.
It was a team of five playing singles with three scores to count. The Ladies, despite being new to the sport clinched victory on their home turf. Thanks to the team the managers Jacinta Coman and Niamh Chadwick and their caddies
Minor Foursomes: Our Minor foursomes were also out in force managed by Mary Hickey and Judy Hayes in Dundrum on Sunday against Douglas. The pairings were Jacinta Coman and Elizabeth Hayes, Patricia Moran and Marie Graves, Niamh Chadwick and Laura Hickey, Geraldine Ryan and Rosemary Maher. Our team of four pairings delivered an outstanding performance against Douglas securing a win. Impressively, not a single match went to the 18th hole.
Our 18-hole competition continues on Wednesday May 28.
Our Lady Captains Marie’s Away Day is fast approaching this Sunday, June 1.
