The draw for the 2013 Limerick senior hurling championship was made in the Limerick Motor Centre on the Ballysimon Road on Tuesday night.
LIMERICK senior hurling champions Kilmallock have been drawn with the intermediate champions of the last three years in the 2013 Limerick Motor Centre sponsored county senior hurling championship.
The draws were made last night in the premises of the new championship sponsor in Ballysimon and in general there is an even spread of the favoured teams across the four groups.
The four semi-finalists of 2012 were seeded in the four groups and the 2013 championship is been greeted with renewed interest due to teh restructuring of the championship next season and therefore four teams will be relegated next October.
The Tony Considine-managed Kilmallock will face Hospital-Herbertstown in round one, but it will be the clash with near neighbours Effin that most will look forward to.
The champions were drawn in Group Four and this group also includes the 2012 intermediate champions Ballybrown, who are the only non-south team in the quartet.
2011 champions Na Piarsaigh were drawn in one of the tougher groups.
The Caherdavin men will play Granagh-Ballingarry in round one and complete their campaign against Patrickswell and Doon.
Last season’s beaten finalists Adare are under new management and will again face Bruree. Murroe-Boher and Knockainey complete the group. Bruree and Murroe-Boher met inthe 2012 County Cup final with Murroe-Boher crowned champions.
Ahane were finalists in 2011 and they are drawn in a group with eastern rivals, South Liberties, who they will play in round one.
Completing the group are last year’s semi-finalists Garryspillane and Croom.
The opening round of games are scheduled for the weekend of May 12.
