LOTTO: Ahane GAA Club have launched their Lotto for 2013 last week. A guaranteed €10,000(tax free) every month with ten members prizes each month made up of first prize €200 second prize €150 and eight prizes of €120 each giving a guaranteed payout of €1,310 a month Tickets on sale from all committee members €10 a month. Tickets also available from Lee’s Castleconnell. First draw will take place on the 3rd March in the clubhouse at 10pm. Lotto promoters will be calling to all houses in the parish over the next few weeks. Please support this worthly cause as this is the club’s main source of income to finance the running of the club for 2013.
MEMBERSHIP: Club membership now due and can be paid to any committee member. Adult €30 Juvenile €25 Players Insurance €25. Players are urged to pay both membership and insurance before training commence’s for 2013.
CARDS: The club is holding a progressive 45 on Friday February 22 commencing at 8pm sharp. €400 in prize money tickets €6 available from any committee member or from the clubhouse.

AGM: Our AGM will take place this Sunday January 27 in the Clubhouse at 8pm. All are welcome and anyone interested in helping out this year please come along.
CALENDAR: Our new 12 page calendar to help raise funds for the club, is on sale now at a cost of €5 each. It is jam packed with a wide variety of photos which were taking throughout the year. The calendar would make a lovely present for anyone living at home or abroad. The calendars are available to buy from any of the coaches and at Rose’s shop.
CONGRATS: The club would like to congratulate Conor Ryan on receiving a West Limerick All Star Award for his performances in Minor Football last season.
TRAINING: Training for all Minor, U-21, Junior and Senior players continues every Saturday at 2.45pm and every Wednesday at 6.45pm for the next 5 weeks in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. Junior hurlers are strongly encouraged to attend as we are looking to enter a team again this year but will need good numbers and interest from all players.Bring boots, runners, hurley and helmet.
UNDERAGE: Underage pre-season hurling training programme has commenced and will run every Friday for the next 6 weeks in UL on the astro turf pitch. The cost is €20 per child, €10 for 2nd child and €5 for third child.
CAMOGIE: Bruff Camogie Club are holding their Registration night on this Friday January 25 from 7 to 9pm in the Bruff GAA Complex. All players need to be registered so that they are eligible to play.

VICTORY: The Bruff GAA victory dinner dance to celebrate the junior hurling, U-21 football, intermediate hurling and intermediate football successes will take place on Friday the 1st of February in the Woodlands House Hotel at 7pm. JUNIORS: The junior hurlers are due to play Austin Stacks of Kerry in Killeedy this Sunday January 27 at 2pm in the Munster quarter final. Please support the panel if you can make the game. Please check with any committee member for confirmation of the fixture in case of a cancellation or change of venue due to weather conditions.
REGISTRATION: The club has set the following rates, Adult Members €30, U-21 & Student €20, Minor €10. Its very important all members pay this as soon as they can.
WORK: Work Continues on the GAA grounds on Saturdays. This is important work on both the structure and playing surface; The Club would like to thank all people who are helping out.
DRAW: Cappamore GAA again will be part of the Limerick club draw for 2013, this is an important draw for both the Club and the Limerick County Board. Great prices for 10 months( March to December)at €10 a month, In 2012 Cappamore had 1 €5000 winner, so you could be next. 50 % of this funding will go to our club and we as a club are very grateful for the support from this draw.
MOUNT GUARDS: Following the GAA’s Annual Congress in April 2012 a new rule was enacted that made it mandatory to use a mouth guard in all Gaelic football matches and training sessions from January 1 2013 (for all age grades up to and including minor) and at U-21 and adult level from January 1 2014. All players need to have mouth guards prior to beginning training in 2013.

CAMOGIE: After a successful year in 2012, the Camogie club are holding a player registration night for all teams from U-8 to Adult level on Friday January 25 at 7pm. All Players must attend and new players are very welcome.
Also on the night, the U-14 County Champions will be presented with their medals, well done to them. It will be a good club evening to please attend.
UNDERAGE: A Registration Night will be held for all juvenile Teams U-6 to U-16 will take place on Tuesday February 5 from 7pm to 8am. All Players wishing to play during the year must be registered .
DOON: Hard Luck to Doon CBS, on losing in the Harty Cup Quarter Final to Ardscoil Ris on a score line of 0-14 to 1-6. David Lonergran started at Corner-Back, while both Anthony Foley and Adam Coleman came off the bench in the second half, Well done to the lads, Not forgetting Denis Leonard who was part of management.
TRAINING: In preparation of the season ahead, the U-21 hurlers are first back to the field, Under the management of Matthew O Malley, Pat Gleeson and PJ Ryan (v). Training takes place in Bilboa on Sundays at 11am.
ONLINE: Cappamore GAA are rolling out a new website, www.cappamoregaa.ie, Please check it out and see what you think, this site is work in progress and will be fully operating in the next few weeks.
LOTTO: No jackpot winner last week. This week’s jackpot is €1400 and the draw will take place on Friday January 25 in Flannerys bar Caherconlish. Tickets just €1 and are on sale in the local pubs and the post office or from any committee member. Club thanks all who support the lotto every week.
TRAINING: U-10s training continues every Monday from 6pm to 7pm in the Millennium Centre. U-8s hurling training continues every Friday in the Millennium Centre 6pm to 7pm. This will continue until training returns back in the GAA Field at the end of March. €2 per training session only while training takes place in the Millennium centre, New players welcome.
All players from U-18s down are required to fill out a registration form. These will be available at all training sessions.
Pre-Season circuit training has started on Wednesdays 8pm in the Millennium centre for club players aged 13 to 18 years old. David Balfry will be taking the sessions. €2 per night.

DRAW: Limerick GAA Club Draw 2013 - 10 great monthly Ddraws takes place from March to December. First draw is first Friday in March. Top prize of €15,000. For anyone who wants to join it is €100 for the year or you can pay €10 a month.
Money raised from the club draw goes to support club and developing Gaelic Games in Limerick City and county. Commission is also available to the club so your support will help the club to develop and promote hurling.
The club did very well last year from the draw with prize money of over €11,700 won.

FEILE: 2013 Feile na Gael will take place in Limerick this year. Caherline will be entering Feile B. The Tournament will take place on July 5-7. U-14 hurlers please take note of this Date. This will be a special event for the club to participate in.
SECOND HAND: If anyone has any old hurling helmets that they are not using anymore the hurling club would greatly appreciate these and we can then recycle them to players or to be used at training. You can hand them at the training sessions that are taking place in the millennium centre or to any committee members. Club Helmets and Hurley’s are available as well Contact John Hickey. GAA rule all players must wear their helmets at all Times during training and on match and blitz days.

RIP: Croom GAA members would like to express their sympathy to family of the late Vincent O Donovan who passed away recently. Vincent played football and hurling for Croom in the 1970s, may he rest in peace.

AGM: Fr Caseys GAA Club will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday January 31 at 7pm in the GAA Clubhouse, Abbeyfeale. We would love to see a large crowd present at this meeting as we try to build on the achievements of 2012 and help the club reach new heights in 2013.
CALENDAR: We now have a club calendar on sale which can be bought from any committee member and form the local shops for €10. The calendar has loads of photos from the last 60 years and is a great collectors item.
We are also releasing a DVD in connection with the clubs 60th anniversary. All the clubs memories are captured on this two disk collection. AGM: Our AGM took place in Glenbrohane Community Hall last Friday. The attendance for the meeting was great to see. As a result of the meeting we have two new people appointed in new positions. John Tobin stepped down as Treasurer and now holds the title of Honouree Treasurer. John Bourke Jnr takes to new role of Treasurer while Vincent Sheehan is appointed Assistant Treasurer. We wish them the best of luck with their new roles in the club. There are no other changes to the committee. Don’t forget that club membership is now due for the 2013 season and can be given to any club member. Club membership is €20 per person and €50 per family.
CONGRATS: Congratulations to Aine Donovan, Jackie Lynch, Aisling Browne and Caoimhne Donovan who were part of John the Baptist Community School Senior Camogie team who won the Munster Intermediate Camogie Final last Saturday on a score line of 1-11 to 1-7.
JUVENILE AGM: The juvenile club AGM took place last Friday night in Cill Bhrìde, chairman Pat Ryan thanked all for attending and thanked all the people who helped the club throughout the year. Secretary Noel O’Dea outlined what happened in the club throughout the year. The main items of discussion was the affiliation of teams, we like most clubs are struggling for numbers but it looks like we will be able to field 11-a-side teams in almost all age groups. The Feile which is to be held in Limerick this year will be held over the weekend July 5-7, we will be hosting a club so parents are asked to keep this weekend free. Gumshields are now compulsory in football for all age groups since January 1 this year. There will be a meeting soon to outline our plans for the Feile and all parents are urged to attend this meeting.

MILFORD 10K: The Milford 10k run/walk took place last Sunday and we had over 30 participants. It was a great response from the people in the parish and all monies raised are going towards an excellent cause. Well done to all who took part in the event.
RECYCLING: If you have Cardboard, clear plastic, plastic bottles, paper, etc. you can drop to the shop in the village and we will recycle them.

VIDEO: We are currently gathering all old video footage for matches and events that took place in the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s. We will be able to copy the video footage and create DVD’s aswell as putting the matches up online. CHILD WELFARE: There is still time to register for the child welfare course being held in the club on Friday January 25 from 7 to 10 p.m. Please note that this course is mandatory for anyone involved with coaching in the club, and applies equally to juvenile, camogie and ladies football. UNDERAGE: This week saw a lot of the juvenile section back training, with more groups resuming in the next week or two. U-10 and U-12 hurlers started back in Garryowen at 8pm on Friday nights, while U-6, U-8 and U-10 footballers resumed on Saturday morning at 11am. It was great to see the children all running around the pitches (to keep warm?), while many were wearing their club colours, giving the effect of a sea of red and navy. For those who have not got them yet, mouthguards are available in the club shop open Sat morning 11.30am to 12.30pm for only €2.50. They must be worn by all age groups U-6 right through to Minors, for training and matches. The mouthguards are available in Junior and Senior, boil and bite. The shop will open at 10.45am next Sat to facilitate those at training at 11am.
BOOTCAMP: The Mungret Bootcampers are having their annual Croagh Patrick climb on Saturday March 2. A large number of climbers stay overnight in Westport to revive the aching limbs. This is open to all, if interested please contact Neil Dignam or Ger Dee. Accomodation is available on payment of a deposit. To date all climbers have found it a challenging but rewarding climb.
SENIOR CLUB: There will be a meeting of all adult players (minor upwards) in the club at 8pm Saturday January 26 followed by medal presentation to winners in 2012 and refreshments, all welcome. Players are advised to take the opportunity to enjoy the refreshments, because strength and conditioning training starts on the morning of February 2 with fitness tests, followed by sessions every Monday and Thursday for six weeks.

FIRST AID: Are you interested in being a First Aid Officer for the club at matches? A basic first aid course with the certificate valid for 3 years will be run over 6 weeks, 3 hours a night with the exam on the final night. Course location is usually in the St Johns Ambulance headquarters in Crossagalla. The course costs would be covered by the club subject to conditions. Should you require further information, please don’t hesitate to contact a club committee member.

Please note that the new Gaelic Football regulations around compulsory wearing of gumshields in all underage grades (up to and including minor) for matches and practice sessions came into effect on January 1. You will not be allowed to participate in Gaelic Football training or matches unless you are wearing a gumshield. Please contact the relevant team coaches for more information.
Please ensure that you have all paid up your registrations for 2013; all players are required to be registered to ensure that they are insured when playing/training; contact your coach to pay registration.
WELL DONE: Well done to the Castletroy College Harty cup team on qualifying for the knock out stages of the Harty cup before bowing out to a strong Thurles CBS team at the quarter final stage last week. Well done to all the Monaleen players on the panel.
COUNTY: It is great to see six of our senior hurlers on John Allens extended panel for this year. Cathal King, Alan Dempsey and Adrian Breen joining Shane Dowling, Kevin Downes and last years Limerick captain David Breen. We wish them all well for the year along with Brendan Donnelly and Cian Coady who are part of the Limerick Senior football panel.
CONGRATS: Congratulations to Ardscoil Ris who qualified for the Harty Cup semi final following a hard fought victory over Doon CBS.
No fewer than nine of the starting 15 were Na Piarsaigh players along with five more on the substitutes bench. Templemore ae next up for them.
CAMOGIE: The camogie club recommence training sessions on Friday evenings from 5:30 to 6:15 for U-6/U-8s and from 6:15-7pm for U-9/U-10’s in St Nessans School Hall until mid March after which we move outside onto club pitch. This will commence on February 8.

CONGRATS: Congratulations to Ardscoil Ris, who overcame Doon CBS by 0-14 to 1-6 in the quarter-final of the Harty Cup. In particlular, well done to club players Cian Lynch, Andrew Carroll, Aaron Gillane and Keith Cawley who all played their part.
DRAW: The Limerick Club Development (Mackey) Draw will commence in March 2013 for ten monthly draws. The subscription is €10 per month or €100 for the full year. Please contact your agent to sign up. New members are always welcome. Patrickswell GAA is entitled to a minimum of 50% of the revenue and it’s a major source of funds for our club. We would appreciate your continued support.
LOTTO: Thee Club Lotto is closing on €11,000. Tickets are available from local businesses and sellers in the community.
Garda Vetting Forms are being circulated to relevant club members and coaches for child protection purposes. It is very important to be properly accredited by the GAA and An Garda Siochana. Completed forms should be returned to The Secretary for onward delivery to the Garda Vetting Unit.
WALL: The club is shortly commencing work on the construction of the hurling wall at Pairc Antoin O’Brian under the supervision of a sub-committee led by Michael Joyce and Richard Bennis. The development of the Hurling Wall is an exciting new development for 2013 for the club. The fundraising will be dovetailed with the Feile fundraising and there’s an organisation group which will be led by Chairman of the Juvenile Club, Raymond Fitzgerald, and Chairwoman of the Camogie Club, Breda Leahy. Any club member who would like to help out with either organising or fundraising for the Feile and/or the hurling wall are invited to contact either Raymond or Breda or any club officer for details.
AGM: The Club’s AGM will take place on next Monday evening January 28 at 8.15pm with Mass for deceased members at 7.30pm. The AGM will take place at the clubhouse in Rhebogue. At this year’s AGM Club secretary Eamonn Phelan is stepping down due to his recent election as PRO of Limerick County board and also stepping down this year is Ger Ryan club assistant treasurer due to family commitments.
FOOTBALL: Our senior footballers have started their training programme for this year’s senior football championship and our management and players are really looking forward to a good year. Our junior hurlers are back training on this Friday evening at UL.
All club players are asked to attend the first night training with a medal presentation taking place following the training session at the clubhouse where our junior hurling panel will received their County and City junior A hurling league winners medals.
UNDERAGE: Last week saw a return of the underage hurling training. With the large increase in numbers at U-6 before the Christmas break an additional training venue at Grove Island has been added for 2013. The first training session in Grove Island sports hall on Friday began at 6pm and saw 18 new players start their first training session with St Patricks. This was followed up with huge attendance at the regular CBS sports hall training sessions for the U-6, U-8 and U-10 players. It is very encouraging to see such big numbers now attending both underage training sessions. Training will continue every Friday evening indoors for the next few weeks. Grove Island: U-6, U-7 hurling training for boys and girls 6pm to 7pm; CBS Sexton Street: U-6, U-7, U-8 hurling training for boys and girls, 7.30pm to 8.15pm; CBS Sexton Street: U-9, U-10 hurling training for boys and girls 8.15pm to 9.00pm.
The U-12 hurling squad returned training on Saturday last outdoors in Rhebogue. They will continue training every Saturday at 4pm outdoors on the all weather pitch in Rhebogue. This coming Thursday sees a return to training for the U-13, U-14 and U-15 hurlers as they return outdoors at 7 pm in Rhebogue and continue their preparation in advance of the Feile coming to Limerick in July 2013. New players and coaches are welcome at any of the training sessions. Finally last week saw are return to coaching in the schools in the parish. As part of the schools coaching program supported by games development, St Patricks GAA are actively coaching in the schools in the parish at the U-6 and U-8 age groups.
ST AILBES LADIES FOOTBALL
AWARDS: St Ailbes held their second award and dinner dance on Saturday January 19 in the Castletroy Park hotel. It was a celebration of an amazing year for the club. This year has seen St Ailbes go from strength to strength, winning five county titles ranging from U-12 to senior level. The guest speaker on the night was the famous Kerry footballer Mick O’Dwyer who imparted great praise tempered with jovial words of wisdom for the future to both players and club. This charismatic icon of sport who came from such humble beginnings proved to be one of the great highlights of the night and continues to inspire generations. Both players and members danced and sang the night away but the campaign whispers for next years county titles was never far away. The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all players, parents, mentors and members for all their hard work and dedication. The success of the club is not only dependent on the players but on the continued support of all it’s members.
AGM: The club’s AGM is crucial to the clubs success. This year’s AGM is on Thursday January 24 at 8pm in the clubhouse in Ballybricken. We would ask that all members and players attend.
