THE LIMERICK senior footballers begin their McGrath Cup campaign on Friday evening at 7pm in Mick Neville Park against Tipperary.There will be a couple of changes to the Limerick senior football panel in 2026.
Long serving footballer Iain Corbett called time on his inter-county career in 2025.Josh Ryan remains a long term injury absentee after suffering a serious ACL injury in action for his club Oola. Ryan has undergone surgery in recent weeks, while Mungret St Paul's' Darragh O'Hagan also got shoulder surgery in November.
Limerick senior football manager Jimmy Lee has also added former Limerick footballer Ian Ryan to his backroom team.
Ryan has joined Lee's backroom team as forwards coach. The St Senan's clubman was the coach of Cork side Buttevant who reached the Munster Junior football final.

Limerick senior football selector Evan Talty is part of the St Brigid's backroom team that take on Scotstown on Saturday afternoon in the All-Ireland senior football championship semi-final.
The Limerick senior football manager was impressed by the standard of the club championships this year in the county.
“We saw a lot of games as a management team, it's like every year we will invite a few new players. We will have a look at them and see where it goes from there.”
Lee said 2026 will provide fringe players with an opportunity.
“It's like everything, there'll be others within the squad that will make the step up. Even the lads that were in there first year last year, we would be hoping that they would push on.”
After a succesful 2025 where Limerick won the Division 4 league title and reached the Tailteann Cup final. The Newcastle West native is hoping his side can build on their progress they showed last year.
“The big thing for us really is to be consistently winning games but at the same time we will set targets for ourselves, you've to be realsitic aswell. Once we finalise the squad, then we will sit down all of us and map it out, in terms of what we want to achieve this year,” outlined Lee.
In round two of the McGrath Cup, Limerick travel to Páirc Uí Rinn to face Cork on Sunday January 11 at 2pm.The final of the McGrath Cup is scheduled for Saturday January 17 at 7pm.
