THE IRISH Wire Products Limerick senior football championship gets back underway this week. Round three of the Limerick SFC takes place this week.
In group one, County champions Adare take on Oola in Claughaun on Friday evening at 6:15pm.Adare have won their opening two group games, while Oola have picked up a win and a draw in their two group games.Limerick goalkeeper Josh Ryan has been in impressive form in attack for Oola scoring 2-13 and Adare sharpshooter Shane O'Connor has been on target with 1-7 from play.
Na Piarsaigh and Rathkeale meet in a crucial clash in Askeaton at the same time on Friday evening.The loser of this clash will effectively enter the relegation battle, while the winner will still have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Table toppers Monaleen take on Fr Casey's on Tuesday evening in Mick Neville Park at 7:30pm.Monaleen are yet to be defeated in the SFC and Limerick senior footballer Darragh Murray has hit 0-13 for the Castletroy side's impressive start to the championship.Last year's county finalists Fr Casey's who are on one point after two games will be aiming to get their championship campaign back on track against Monaleen.
In group two, Newcastle West and St Kieran's face off in a top of the table clash on Friday evening in Athea at 6:15pm.
The Magpies have looked back to their best in the opening two rounds under new manager Liam Weir.
Newcastle West have been boosted by the return of Bryan Nix, Darren O'Doherty and Ruadhan O'Connor in recent weeks.St Kieran's have won their opening two games impressively against Ballylanders and Galtee Gaels.Darragh Treacy and John Hayes have combined impressively for the west Limerick outfit scoring 0-16 between them.
2024 county semi-finalists Mungret St Paul's face Kildimo-Pallaskenry on Friday evening at 6:15pm in Clarina. Both sides have registered a victory and suffered a loss in their two games.
Mungret are backboned by Limerick footballers Ronan McElligot, Jack McCarthy, Jason Hassett, Darragh O'Hagan and Killian Ryan. Kildimo Pallaskenry are still without Kyle Hayes and Tony McCarthy who remain sidelined through injury.Peter Nash and Cathal Downes remain crucial players for Declan Nash's side.
The final game of the weekend sees Ballylanders take on Galtee Gaels in Kilmallock on Saturday at 3pm. Both sides are searching for their first win this weekend.
After this weekend, the hurling championships will take centre stage for the following two weekends with the senior football championship getting back underway on the weekend of September 28.
