MONALEEN and Na Piarsaigh meet this evening in round two of the Irish Wire Products Limerick Senior Football Championship. The city derby gets underway at 7pm in St Patrick’s GAA Club in Rhebogue.

Na Piarsaigh suffered a heavy defeat to Oola in round one of the Limerick Senior Football Championship. Monaleen got their SFC campaign off to a winning start against Rathkeale.

The Caherdavin side reached the SFC quarter-final last year after losing their two first group games. Na Piarsaigh can take confidence from the way they bounced back. Sharpshooter Dylan Cronin missed his side's opening round defeat to Oola through injury. Former Limerick footballer Gordon Brown, captain Evan Egan and Ralph Leonard who was part of the Limerick senior football pre-season squad remain key players for Na Piarsaigh.

After a difficult year in 2024, Monaleen have been one of standout teams in the SFC this year. The Castletroy club were narrowly defeated by Fr Casey's in the league final.

Limerick senior footballer Darragh Murray was in inspirational form scoring 0-11 in his sides 1-19 to 0-13 victory over Rathkeale in round one. Conal O'Duinn and Tadhg O'Siochru who were both part of Jimmy Lee's squad this year were also in impressive form against Rathkeale. Monaleen's Darragh O'Siochru remains sidelined through injury.
