TUS MIDWEST have advanced into this year's Trench Cup semi-finals. The Limerick college narrowly defeated SETU Waterford 1-9 to 1-8 in the Higher Education Football competition.
After an opening round to SETU Carlow, TUS Midwest have turned things around to book their place in the Trench Cup semi-finals.
Limerick senior footballer Emmett Rigter, Kyle Mullins, Ciaran Uwatse and Jamie Behan are all part of the TUS Midwest Trench Cup squad.
Rigter had a breakthrough year with Jimmy Lee's side last year. The Newcastle West clubman was named on the Tailteann Cup team of the year in 2024. Kyle Mullins of St Patrick's has been named on this year's Limerick senior football panel.
Newcastle West's Mike McMahon and Mike Quilligan are in charge of the city based college. Donagh Walsh of Mountcollins and Leigh Fitzgerald of Newcastle West are also part of the backroom team.
TUS Midwest will now face Dundalk IT in the last four of the competition on Thursday February 6 at 7pm. SETU Carlow take on Trinity College in the other semi-final.
Cian Nolan of Laois captains the side, while Carlow's Kyle Nolan is the vice-captain of the TUS Midwest Trench Cup team.
Meanwhile, Mary Immaculate failed to progress from group one after the south circular road college sufffered defeats to Dundalk IT and Trinity College.
