THE UNIVERISTY of Limerick Sigerson cup footballers turn their attention to their Sigerson Cup knockout clash this evening.
UL take on University of Galway at 7pm in Maguires Fields in round three of the Sigerson Cup. The Castletroy college comfortably defeated ATU Galway in round one.
Last Wednesday, UL were narrowly defeated by reigning Sigerson Cup champions Ulster University in round two. Mayo natives Cian McHale and Conal Dawson impressed scoring 0-3 between them for the Limerick college.
Captain Darragh Cashman, Clare footballer Daniel Walsh and Roscommon native Darragh Heneghan are some of the other key players for UL.
Their opponents University of Galway recovered from an opening round defeat to cruise past Queens in round two. Mayo footballer Ryan O'Donoghue and Galway footballers Cian Hernon and Cillian O Curraoin are players that UL will need to watch on Tuesday night.
Cormac Woulfe of St Senans and Darragh O'Hagan of Mungret St Paul's have featured on the University of Limerick starting XV in both Sigerson Cup games. Woulfe is vice-captain of the team and he has lined out at full back. Darragh O'Hagan has lined out in midfield.
University of Limerick are managed by Newcastle West’s Declan Brouder and Seanie Buckley of Dromcollogher Broadford is also part of the backroom team.
The winner of this clash will advance into the quarter-finals of the Sigerson Cup.
