Kildimo-Pallaskenry defeated Oola 2-11 to 2-6 in round five of the Limerick senior football championship. It was a game Kildimo-Pallaskenry never looked like losing at any stage.
The victors were superb in the opening 30 minutes and their first half performances always gave them some breathing space in this encounter.
There wasn't much at stake for either club as both sides were unable to reach the knockout stages of the DFC.
Limerick footballers Peter Nash and Josh Ryan both stood out for their clubs. Kildimo-Pallaskenry were still without Cathal Downes and Tony McCarthy, both players continue to be sidelined through injury.
Some of the Kildimo-Pallaskenry players will line out next week in the round five of the Limerick SHC against Monaleen. Oola were without their dual players this evening who also line out for Doon.
Kildimo-Pallaskenry made full advantage of the breeze in the opening period, while Oola failed to register a score from play in the first half.
Limerick senior footballer Josh Ryan opened the scoring through a long range free for Oola. Gary Sheehan levelled matters through a fisted point.
The lively Peter Nash put Kildimo Pallaskenry into the lead through a mark and Nash followed that up with a neat point from play on 11 minutes.
On 14 minutes, Peter Nash played a clever handpass to Ross Allen. Allen slotted the ball into the back of the net and Kildimo-Pallaskenry led 1-3 to 0-1.
Nash, captain Conor Staff and wing forward Gary Sheehan extended the city based club lead on 23 minutes. Wing back Ciaran McMahon found himself in space and McMahon rattled the ball into the back of the net to push Kildimo Pallaskenry 2-6 to 0-1 ahead.
Oola were struggling to live with their opponents intensity but the accurate Josh Ryan hit his second placed of the evening right before the break. Alan O'Mahony's side trailed 2-6 to 0-2 at the break.
Substitute Ryan Kelly got on the end of an excellent team move to put John Chawke's charges 2-7 to 0-2 ahead. The east Limerick side started the second half brightly, Josh Ryan and Jack Downey were on target.
Sheehan and Paudie Hartigan were off the mark as Kildimo Pallaskenry led by 11 points. Josh Ryan who lined in goal's this year for Limerick was proving to be crucial for his club and Ryan landed two efforts in-a-row and Oola continued their positive start to the second half.
Peter Nash responded with a close range free to put the 2023 quarter-finalists into a 2-10 to 0-6 lead. Oola threw bodies forward and Ryan moved himself into the square and he finished off a counter move. The Limerick senior footballer tapped the ball into the back of the net from close range.
James Pomeroy landed a spectacular point from distance from the outside of his boot to put Kildimo-Pallaskenry back into control of this contest. Oola didn't throw in the towel and continued to battle away, Josh Ryan placed the ball into the back of the net to score his second goal of the evening. That was as good it got for them as Kildimo-Pallaskenry hung on for a comfortbale five point victory.
Both sides have retained their senior status' for the 2025 season.
