THE Limerick minor footballers take on Down in the All-Ireland Minor Football tier three championship quarter final on Saturday May 25 at 12:30pm in Grangegorman, Dublin.
Limerick recorded a 12 point victory over Fermanagh last weekend in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter final. The Shannonsiders outscored their opponents 2-10 to 0-02 in the second half which ultimately proved to be difference where Limerick won out a final scoreline of 3-11 to 0-08.
Limerick minor football manager Gerard O'Connor was delighted with his sides performance.
"It was a great second half performance from the boys. We've had a lot of tough days on the roads where results didn't go our way. In fairness, we trained very well over the last weeks. It's super because we've on the road for four years with this group. Last year and the previous years it was a developing stage. I'm just delighted for everyone."
O'Connor said the players and management are very much looking forward to this weekend's clash with Down.
''I think there is a real buzz around the camp now. It was great to go back training on Monday night.''
Their opponents Down defeated Meath in their All-Ireland preliminary quarter final last weekend on a final scoreline of 2-16 to 0-08.
