LIMERICK GAA have nominated Liam Bourke to contest for the role of Munster Council treasurer.

The Fedamore man served as Limerick GAA treasurer for the last five years.

His term in that role ended last Monday night at the County Board's Annual Convention.

At the December County Board meeting in the Woodlands House Hotel, Bourke was nominated to contest for the role of Munster GAA treasurer at the provincial council's Annual Convention in January.

Tournafulla's Liam Lenihan was the last Limerick man to serve on the Munster Council executive - ending his three year term as chairman this time last year. He had served as vice-chairman prior to his tenure as chairman.

The last Limerick man to serve as Munster Council treasurer was Kilmallock's Mike Fitzgerald, who was in the position from 2011-13.

It is understood that Bourke will face competition for the position.
