Newcastle West take on Clonmel Commercials in the Munster club SFC semi-final at Semple Stadium on Sunday
THREEE Limerick sides are involved in Munster club football semi-final action this weekend, looking to secure places in their respective provincial finals.
In the Munster senior club football semi-finals, Limerick kingpins Newcastle West travel to Semple Stadium, Thurles to take on Clonmel Commercials, of Tipperary, on this Sunday lunchtime for a 1pm throw-in.
Newcastle West booked their place in the provincial championship after retaining their Limerick senior football title thanks to a 1-11 to 2-5 extra-time success over Adare in Kilmallock earlier this month. Their opponents this Sunday, Clonmel, have had an outing in the Munster club championship already this season overcoming Cork champions Nemo Rangers impressively in their first round fixture.
Elsewhere, in the Munster club football championship next weekend, Limerick's Na Piarsaigh travel to Kilmallock to face Tipperary champions, Ballina, in an intermediate club semi-final also on Sunday at 1pm.
Limerick representatives Na Piarsaigh booked their place in this weekend's semi-final are defeating Waterford champions Roanmore 2-10 to 1-5 in their quarter-final which was also played in Kilmallock earlier this month. Na Piarsaigh's opponents this weekend, Ballina, received a bye into the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, a large crowd is expected to flock to Quaid Park, Coolyroe this Saturday, 1pm, for the mouth-watering meeting of Castlemahon and Fossa, of Kerry, in the Munster junior football championship semi-final.
The interest in the game is heightened by the fact that while Castlmahon include Limerick's multiple All-Ireland hurling winner Seamus Flanagan in their ranks, the Fossa side will include Footballer of the Year David Clifford and his brother Paudie.
