FOUR CLUBS are fighting it out to make the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-finals after the penultimate round of fixtures.

Effin booked their place in the last four with an impressive 2-17 to 1-13 victory over Bruff in Kilmallock. Bruff now need a result against Newcastle West in their final group game to reach the semi-finals.

Paddy O'Donovan was in sensational form for Effin and he finished with 0-12 in a game that saw Nickie Quaid dominate at centre back. Ruari O'Connor and Frankie Herr. Diarmuid Dennehy replied for Bruff late on.

Dromin-Athlacca, Newcastle West, Bruff and Blackrock are all on eight points heading into the final round and one of those teams is set to see their season end this weekend.

Newcastle West ended Na Piarsaigh's hopes of a semi-final place with a 0-16 to 0-11 victory in Croagh. Jimmy Lee's side held a two-point half time advantage but excelled after the break to earn their fourth win of the championship.

Dromin-Athlacca moved into second place in the table saw off Glenroe on a 1-9 to 1-5 scoreline in their game with Glenroe in Kilfinane, while Blackrock's nine-point winning margin over bottom placed Cappamore also puts them into the mix heading into their final game.

Effin finish their group fixtures against Cappamore on Sunday in Bruff. It's win or bust for Cappamore as anything other than a victory will see them relegated to intermediate for the 2024 season.

Cappamore will need Blackrock to beat Glenroe to have any hope of a relegation play-off with a Glenroe side that are on two points. Blackrock need a win for their own reasons. That game takes place in Kilmallock.

Dromin-Athlacca face Na Piarsaigh in Fedamore with the west Limerick side looking to confirm a semi-final place. The final game of the group sees Bruff take on Newcastle West in a straight shoot-out for a spot in the last four in Ballyagran.

Newcastle have good form after last week's win, while Bruff will have to pick themselves up from the loss to Effin. All games in the Premier IHC take place on Sunday and have a 2pm start.
