LIMERICK PLAYERS: There were wins all over at the weekend for Limerick hurling. Congratulations to the U15 A team who played Clare in Bruff on Saturday July 22. This was a quarter final which saw the Limerick team finish in style with a 4-20 to 3-12 result to bring them through to the Semi Final stage. Well done to Mungret St. Pauls players Rory Gleeson, Killian Begley and Rory O’Callaghan. We also had Oisin Donnelly in Kilmallock playing on the second team.
The Limerick U16 hurlers played the last of their group games which sees them into the Finals day. Well done to our own James Flemming who played for Limerick.
The U14 hurlers were also out on Saturday July 22, they were in Mick Neville Park where they played Dublin and Galway in games to help grade for the upcoming tournaments in August. Well done to Mungret St. Pauls, Ruairí Dwane who was on the team who beat Dublin.
U15 HURLING:Both our U15 hurling teams were out again on Monday July 17. Our Division 1 team were just out the road in Ahane where they built up a very impressive 11 point lead only for Ahane to come back in the second half and take over the scoring leaving us with a five point loss by the final whistle. With two games left to play they currently sit in fifth place but results from the next two matches can still make a difference to the final position on the table.
Mungret St. Pauls 2-12 Ahane 3-14
Our Division 3 team had home advantage when they played Na Piarsaighs second team. We proved too strong for the visitors which gave a great opportunity for the younger subs to get a run. There are another four matches ahead of this team with the next one at the end of the month, they currently sit near the middle of the group.
Mungret St. Pauls 7-6 Na Piarsaigh 4-4.
U13 FOOTBALL: Mungret St. Pauls 0-5 Monaleen 3-6. It was a lovely evening for football in Mungret on Tuesday July 18 when Mungret St. Pauls Division 3 team welcomed Monaleen to a game full of skill and team work. Both sides were even for most of the match, Mungret St. Pauls were unlucky to see the ball hit their net which gave Monaleen the win but the Mungret St. Pauls players put everything they had into the game with some great displays of blocking and tackling along with seeking out and working the ball through our players to get the score. This was the sixth match for this team to play with one more match to go in a few weeks time.
U13 CAMOGIE: The camogie championship kicked off on Thurs night when we hosted Crecora at home. Captained by Vivienne McInerney the girls battled hard, even when under pressure. Next Match is away to Newcastle West this Tuesday.
U13 HURLING: Both our U13 Hurling teams fielded on Thursday July 20 with our Division 2 team travelling out to Garryspillane where we were met with a tough team of players who gave as good as they got but it was Mungret St. Pauls who had the upper hand on the score board and taking the win. This leaves us top of the group and into the cup semi final with another two games to play. The next game against Kildimo Pallaskenry is in two weeks.
Mungret St. Pauls 6-7 Garryspillane 2-3. It was out to Banogue for our Division 3 team when they played Dromin Athlacca Banogue. This was a great game for both sides with many skills being used by the players as they worked the ball out of trouble and into a scoring position. Both sides saw wides but the scores that were recorded saw both sides level. There is one last game to play for this team against Na Piarsaigh early August. They currently sit in Shield Semi Final position.
Mungret St. Pauls 1-6 Dromin Athlacca Banogue 0-9
U19 PREMIER FOOTBALL: Mungret St. Pauls 0-7 Monaleen 0-12
It was in Monaleens Peafield Road grounds on Thursday July 20 where our U19 Footballers played their first match against Monaleen. Monaleen proved to be the stronger side, with more players on the age. But our players delivered a creditable, energetic performance, never letting Monaleen get out of touch. But for a few wides, a missed goal or two, this could have gone to the wire.
SIGNED JERSEY WINNER: Our U15 Féile footballers recently held a fundraising raffle for a signed Limerick Jersey. Congratulations to the winner Martha Cooney who is an aunt of our player Jamie Curtin. Hopefully she received it in time for the All Ireland final.

SOUTH LIBERTIES
LIMERICK: All Ireland Champions for the 4th time in a row. Our Parishes woke up Monday morning to a cherished reality that Limerick are All Ireland Champions for the 4th year on the trot. Barry Nash's jersey number 4 is so significant now for South Liberties. We are so proud of his performances all year and he didn't let us down last Sunday in Croke Park with another superb execution of defence. Our "Corner Forback" even gave us another point to prove his immense capabilities. Congratulations Barry and Limerick. 2023 Number Plates will be available to purchase in Elm Court this week.
BRIAN BUTLER CUP: Our junior hurlers have reached the final of the Brian Butler after winning their three games in the competition so far.
Round 1 - South Liberties 2-19 Ballybricken 0-15.
We welcomed neighbours Ballybricken to Dooley Pk in Rd1 and came out on top on a scoreline of 2-19 to 0-15. In a game we lead from start to finish a good overall team performance saw us reach the quarter final. Scorers Barry Walsh 0-9, Shane O Neill 2-02, Shane Brosnahan 0-2, David O Neill 0-2, Sean Keane 0-2, Bill Hickey 0-1, Darragh Godfrey 0-1.
Quarter Final - Pallasgreen 1-18 South Liberties 2-21.
We made the short trip to Pallasgreen for this quarter final game and after a hard-fought game played in tricky underfoot conditions, we continued our winning streak in the competition. Down a few players due to injuries/holidays we had to dig deep into our panel and the lads that came in did an excellent job. Leading 2-13 to 1-10 at halftime we kept the score board ticking over in the second half and won out the game 2-21 to 1-18. Scorers Dave O Neill 1-13, Shane Brosnahan 1-03, Sean Keane 0-2, Bill Hickey 0-2, Ryan Godfrey 0-1.
Semi Final - South Liberties 2-21 Doon 0-25.
After winning the coin toss for home advantage we welcomed a very good Doon side to Dooley Park for the semifinal. This turned out to be a cracking game of hurling between two evenly matched sides and after a titanic tussle we just about came out on top at the end. We started on the front foot and within 3 minutes a goal and a point from corner forward Ben Compton and a point from Dave O Neill saw us race into an early lead. Doon registered their first score and for the next ten minutes both sides traded scores. Unfortunately, we lost key defender Michael Meaney to a nasty injury, and we had to make some adjustments to our side. Doon soon got back on level terms but after a great move that started in defence Joe Hegarty got the finishing touch to score our second goal to see us three points up at the short whistle on a score line of 2-10 to 0-13. The first 10 minutes of the second half again saw the sides trade points and by the midway point of the second half we had increased our lead our lead to five points with scores from Dave O Neill 0-4, Shane Brosnahan 0-2 and Bill Hickey 0-1.
We then lost a player to a red card and Doon seized the initiative and with ten minutes to go the game was level. Doon then had a player red carded to even up the numbers. Our lads lifted their game with fresh legs introduced we outscored Doon by four points to two in the remaining minutes with superb scores from Joe Hegarty, Jack Fitzpatrick and Darragh Godfrey. With that the final whistle blew and now we look forward to the final against Caherline. We wish Michael Meaney a speedy recovery and hopefully it won't be too long before Michael is back on the pitch. Scorers Dave O Neill 0-9, Ben Compton 1-2, Shane Brosnahan 0-4, Joe Hegarty 1-1, Darragh Godfrey 0-2, Mike Keane 0-1, Jack Fitzpatrick 0-1, Bill Hickey 0-1.
Panel - Paul Butler, Ben Garry, Enda Meaney, Kieran O'Brien, Michael Meaney, Ben O'Donohue, Stephen Noonan, Mike Keane, Jack Fitzpatrick, Matthew Gaule, Ryan Godfrey, Brendan Aherne, Barry Walsh, Sean Keane, Darragh Godfrey, David O'Neill, Paraic Ryan, Joe Hegarty, Conor McNamara, Shane Brosnahan, Shane O'Neill, Arthur O Donnell, Brendan McSweeney, Bill Hickey, Roan O'Mahoney, Ben Compton, Sean Enright, Shane Kilcoyne, Brendan Butler, Shane Garry, Brian McDonagh, Patrick O Donnell.
