Fedamore GAA to hold second hurling tournament in honour of former GAA President

FEDAMORE GAA club are hosting a senior hurling tournament at their grounds this coming Saturday in honour of former GAA President WP Clifford. It is the second year running that the east Limerick club are hosting the event.

Four clubs; Kilmallock, Cappataggle (Galway), Mount Sion (Waterford) and Kilmaley (Clare) will all be competing to try and win the WP Clifford Cup.

The first semi-final between Mount Sion and Kilmaley has a 12.30pm throw-in, while Kilmallock v Cappataggle starts at 1.45pm. The Shield Final has a 3pm start and the Cup Final begins at 4.15pm. 

There event is also being run as a family fun day with pony rides, face painting and live music taking place. Entry is €10 with kids entering for free. Matt O'Callaghan is MC for the event and there promises to be plenty of special guests.

William P Clifford was a native of Fedamore and later his family moved to Boher. Clifford was Limerick GAA Chairman from 1921 to 1939 and was the driving force behind the purchase and development of the current Gaelic Grounds.

He was President of the GAA from 1926 to 1928 and Munster GAA Chairman from 1932-36.
