THE Connacht SFC Final between Galway and Sligo will be played on Sunday, May 7 at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park in Castlebar at 1.45pm.
It will be preceded by the Connacht LGFA Final between Mayo and Galway at 11.30am.
“We’re expecting a crowd of more than 20,000 people and it should be a great occasion,” remarked John Prenty, who explained that playing the novel final in Sligo was not an option.
“It’s widely accepted that playing Connacht Finals at Markievicz Park and Carrick-on-Shannon is not an option due to the capacity of both venues.
“The attendance in Markievicz is around 10,000 and we would expect around twice that to attend next month’s final in Castlebar.”
