THE UNIVERSITY of Limerick are in O'Connor Cup semi-final action this afternoon when they face Queens University Belfast at the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome.

A win in the game would see UL into the O'Connor Cup decider for an incredible eighth successive year. They have also won the finals in six of those years, losing in 2016 and 2018. A win in this year's competition would be UL's third title in a row and a 14th in all.

UL have a star-studded team with Aoife Molly of Galway as captain. Their panel also includes Cork's Erika O'Shea, Galway's Nicola Ward, Mayo's Ciara Needham, Clare's Aising Reidy.

They also have some star forwards in the name of Erone Fitzpatrick (Laois) and Kerry captain Siofra O'Shea.

On paper at least, UL look like the team to beat again. Their half-back line is particularly impressive, containing Cork’s Erika O’Shea and Galway pair Nicola Ward and Aoife Molloy, the team captain.

There is one Limerick representative on the UL panel, Catherine Boyle of St Ailbe's. Catherine plays for Donegal. The team is jointly managed by DJ Collins and Niall O'Meara.

UL's game with QUB has a 4pm throw-in and is being live streamed on the LGFA Facebook page.
