THE UNIVERSITY of Limerick are chasing another All-Ireland hurling title when they face the University of Galway in the Freshers 1 Final in Dangan this evening.

The Joe McGrath managed side face a UG side that they have already beaten in the group stages. UL started their campaign against TUS Midwest with a one-point win in Moylish.

Next up was an epic contest against Mary Immaculate College which UL came out on the wrong side of a 2-18 to 1-19 scoreline.

UL got back in track with another one-point win over tonight's opponents before a quarter-final victory over SETU Waterford. McGrath's charges then saw off DCU in the semi-final, again by a one-point margin.

There is plenty of Limerick interest in the UL squad with Kilmallock's Conor Hanley-Clarke, Ahane's Evan O'Leary and Gavin Rowsome, Monaleen's Joe Fitzgerald, Glenroe's Liam Dennehy, Blackrock's Sean O'Neill, Murroe-Boher's Killian Quaid, Templeglantine's Adam Fitzgerald, Castletown-Ballyagran's Mark O'Riordan, Crecora-Manister's Rian O'Byrne, Cappamore's PJ Hogan and John Fitzgerald of Na Piarsaigh all part of the panel.

Joe McGrath is joined by Limerick's Patsy Coffey and Dave Clohessy, as well as Dave Foley (Clare) and James McGrath (Tipperary) in his management team.

The UL Freshers team for the final is as follows: Conor Hanley-Clarkey (Kilmallock, Limerick); Joe Hoctor (Carrig & Riverstown, Offaly), Ian McNamara (Killanena, Clare); Evan O'Leary (Ahane, Limerick); Oisin Walsh (Fourmilewater, Waterford), John Conneally (Clooney-Quin, Clare), Maidhc Fitzpatrick (Drom & Inch); Ronan O'Connor (Feakle, Clare), Joe Fitzgerald (Monaleen, Limerick); Liam Dennehy (Glenroe, Limerick), Sean Rynne (Inagh-Kilnamona, Clare), Sean Killeen (Liscarroll, Cork); Daithi Keane (Beagh, Galway), Keith Smyth (Killanena, Clare), Sean O'Neill (Blackrock, Limerick).

Their game in Dangan has a 7pm throw-in.

They Freshers 1 team will be looking to emulate their second team landed a second All-Ireland in a row. Clohessy, Foley and Ballybrown's Cian Hedderman were over that team.

Rowsome, Mikey Fitzgibbon (Cappamore), Brian O'Keeffe (Murroe-Boher) and Daire Ryan (Doon) were the Limerick players involved in that panel.
