LIMERICK heart-throb Kamal Ibrahim is to keep his prestigious Mr World title for another year after the organisers decided to extend his contract and postpone the next staging of the event until 2012.
The decision means the Thomondgate native will continue to enjoy all of the many benefits that accompany the title he won in March 2010 in Incheon, Korea. Speaking to the Limerick Leader from Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris, Kamal said the development, which he himself only learned of in recent weeks, was a “very exciting” one.
“I am going to hold the title and continue to act as Mr World, so it is very good news. It gives me 12 more months of doing what I have been doing and I am very happy about that,” he said.
“There are a lot of plans in place for the year and I am heading over to London next week to discuss opportunities in the States and Australia, so it is very exciting,” he added.
The Leader understands that 25-year-old Kamal is also to take up a presenter role with RTE on several projects due to be announced over the coming months, while he has considerable interest from studios in America and Australia.
