Two gardens on the Lough Derg Garden Trail will be raising funds for the North Tipperary Hospice movement during the month of June.

Marcus and Irene Sweeney will be holding an open day on Sunday 10th June at Fancroft Mill and Gardens, which is just off Birr road in Roscrea.

Explore 1.5 hectares of gardens or enjoy home baking in the Tea Rooms.

A major conservation project is well advanced at the mill, which is powered by a tributary of the Little Brosna. Tours of the mill will be available, but must be booked in advance by calling 0505-31484.

Curraquill Garden in Dromineer near Nenagh will be holding “Patsy’s Tea Party” all day on Sunday 17th June. The garden is owned by Lulu Bergin and is an acre in size. It is home to doves, call ducks, silkies and Polish bantams. Both Curraquill Garden and Fancroft Mill and Gardens raised approximately €6,000 for North Tipperary Hospice in 2011. More information on all of these gardens is available on www.LoughDergGardens.com. Copies of the printed guide for the Lough Derg Garden Trail are available free of charge by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Kerrie O’Connor, Rathurles, Nenagh.

The Lough Derg Garden trail was established by Kerrie O’Connor in late 2010 and has been part-funded by the North Tipperary LEADER Partnership under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013, which is financed by the EU through the European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development and the National Exchequer through the National Development Plan.
