No show like a Joe show! Limerick man finishes second in Macra Mr Personality Festival

Joe Hennessy is lifted shoulder-high by Limerick Macra members after his success in Kilkenny

CONGRATULATIONS to Joe Hennessy who represented Limerick at the 19th annual Macra Mr Personality Festival in Kilkenny on Friday night, April 10.

The trip to the Marble City despite ongoing fuel protests on roads and shortages of diesel and petrol was well worth the trouble as the judges chose Joe as runner-up. Joe, of Kilmallock Macra, had a big crowd of supporters as can be seen in the photo!

Mr Personality Festival was held in Langton’s Hotel, Kilkenny for the very first time and was kindly sponsored by Kilkenny, Carlow and District Farm Relief Services.

Joe, aged 22, is an active member of Kilmallock Macra. He listed getting announced as the social officer when he didn’t apply and being told he was the social officer by a friend, who saw it come up on Instagram, as one of his most memorable Macra moments!

His hobbies and interests include agriculture, rugby, football, hurling. Joe believes he will make a good representative for Limerick because he can bring a new level of energy into the title as he thrives off seeing people enjoying themselves. The judges obviously agreed.

Joe has been heavily involved in fundraising over the last four years, raising over €15,000 between two Movember campaigns where he organised fun events throughout November that brought lads together to talk and get involved.

He was also chairman of the NAG (Nursing and Agricultural) society) in MTU Kerry where they organised events for the students to raise money for charity. €6,000 was fundraised for BUMBLEance in Tralee.

Kilkenny County Macra ensured that the weekend was great fun and action-packed for all who attended.
