BREAKING: Man, 30s, dies in tragic workplace accident on Limerick farm

A MAN, aged in his 30s, has died in a tragic workplace accident on a farm in County Limerick this weekend.

He is the second person to lose their lives on a farm west Limerick in the space of a week.

Following a query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson confirmed gardaí and emergency services responded to a fatal workplace accident at a premises near Dromcollogher on Saturday afternoon.

“A male, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His body was removed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place,” said a garda spokesperson.

It is understood that he was killed in an accident involving machinery.

A file will be prepared for Limerick Coroner John McNamara.

Separately, last Monday evening, Donal O’Connor, aged 91, was discovered deceased at his farm at Morgan’s North, Barrigone, Askeaton. It is believed the elderly man was attacked by a cow while he was tending to cattle that were being outwintered.

Mr O’Connor, of Tarbert Island, Tarbert and formerly of Main Street, Ballylongford, County Kerry was laid to rest on Saturday.
