THE TEAGASC Certificate in farming known to all as the Green Cert is the recognised qualification for a career as a farmer in Ireland.
Together with the educational knowledge gained on a Green Cert course, there are benefits from a taxation angle as well as priority access and top-ups with State and EU schemes.
Typically a locally based Green Cert course runs on a part-time basis with the course featuring a blended form of learning, encompassing both formal lectures /classes and on-farm based training. These locally based part-time courses normally commence in September / October with the aim of completion in a time frame of 18 / 24 months.
The duration of the course depends entirely on the intensity with which it is run. Students on part-time Green Cert courses follow a modular based programme and most modules in the first half of the course are split 50 / 50 between lectures and on-farm practicals.
Teagasc in the Kerry/Limerick Advisory and Education region are pleased to announce the commencement of a part-time Green Cert course this September.
The lectures / classes element will be based in our training centre at Teagasc Newcastle-West with the on-farm training taking place at Salesian Agricultural College, Pallaskenry.
For prospective students and their parents / guardians / spouses / partners an information meeting will take place at the Teagasc office, Newcastle West on Thursday, August 22 at 7pm.
