The land for sale at Scart, Ballysimon
THE MONTH of August is generally when auctioneers take their holidays but GVM have brought two exceptional farms of Limerick land to the market in recent weeks.
First up is an outstanding 38 acres of rolling parkland, enjoying extensive road and river frontage and with a conditional planning approved for the construction of one residence at Scart, Ballysimon.
GVM’s Tom Crosse said the parcel of land is ideally located just 10 minutes drive from the University of Limerick and Plassey Technological Park with easy access to both the nearby motorway and Boher village.
“The land quality is excellent and is laid out in easily managed divisions, adjoining the Mulcair River from the rear. This is an ideal opportunity to acquire a very valuable holding, ideal for dairying, beef or equestrian use. The excellent location also makes this a tremendous investment opportunity or for possible hobby farming use,” said Mr Crosse.
He reports that he has strong offers on the table and mainly from the business community.
“There is planning on it for one house which makes it very attractive and enhances its value. It is ideal for somebody who wants to build their dream house in the countryside but still be close to the city,” said Mr Crosse, who doesn’t expect Scart to stay on the market too long.
Separately, Mr Crosse and GVM colleague John O’Connell are going to auction 74.1 acres of prime agricultural land renowned for its fattening qualities in Liffane, Askeaton (Lot 1 pictured below).

The online and in person auction, in one, two or three lots, takes place on Thursday, September 7 at 3pm in their Limerick city auction rooms, Glentworth Street.
The land is located 1.5 kilometres from the main Limerick to Foynes Road (N69) and there is extensive road frontage and possible site potential, said Mr Crosse.
Lot 1 is 28.5 acres with derelict residence and a range of out buildings including 60 x 40 slatted house with cubicles and lieback area, cattle crush and haybarn.
Lot 2 is 45.6 acres of prime quality lands with extensive road frontage.
Lot 3 is the entire farm. Mr Crosse is guiding in excess of €1 million for the entire farm and reports good interest.
“Myself and John’s phones have been ringing away,” said Mr Crosse, who hasn’t noticed the price of land contracting.
“There is’t as much land as there was on the market last year. Any land that is coming to the market is selling well. We are not seeing a fall off because of the drop in milk price or the increase in interest rates. Interest in land continues unabated.
Whatever comes to the market is getting sold,” said Mr Crosse.
