UISCE Éireann has confirmed the completion of the Croom Rationalisation project, representing an €8.6m investment.

This will improve water supply security and resilience to 1,700 customers in Croom and surrounding areas in County Limerick, while also supporting future social and economic development for the local community.

Uisce Éireann had previously identified Croom as an area where the existing drinking water infrastructure was not sufficient to meet current and future demand, and the area has been prone to frequent nighttime restrictions. Along with creating supply challenges for existing customers, this has also impacted on the delivery of new housing developments in the area.

This project included the provision of over 6km of rising main which has connected Croom to the Limerick City supply (Clareville Water Treatment Plant) which will support social and economic development in the village.

This improved water supply has also addressed the importation of water into Croom through tankers, which was put in place on an interim basis to support customers and maintain a reliable and adequate supply.
