Cllr Emmett O'Brien
Glenameade, Pallaskenry, Co. Limerick
Barrister and farmer
Why have you decided to run in the Local Elections ?
I am seeking re-election as an Independent councillor. We need an independent and progressive voice who will represent the people of Adare Rathkeale without fear or favour and challenge the cosy cartel in the Council of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael.
Why should people vote for you?
Since being elected I have focused my energies on speaking plainly, challenging political correct assumptions and getting things done.
I have focused primarily on improving the crumbling infrastructure of footpaths and roads and safety schemes in the Kildimo Pallaskenry Askeaton, Kilcornan, Adare and Askeaton area.
With limited resources and well managed projects, I have delivered infrastructural improvements, from slipways, roads, footpaths, drainage schemes to privately helping people in difficult personal situations.
There is much more to do and with the help and support of the people of Adare Rathkeale I will continue to deliver for you and deliver an Independent voice without fear or favour.
What do you think is lacking in your area and what will you be campaigning for?
Starting from a low base I think our physical infrastructure is poor and needs upgrading, footpath, roads, cycle ways, drainage, playgrounds and give a better street cleaning and parks service.
We need rural broadband, a strong and assertive Garda presence and proper, focused and sustained tourism promotion with a greenway from Adare along the Maigue to Ballysteen, and I will be doing all in my power to ahieve these goals.
