Formerly known as the Pakman awards, the Repak Resource Awards is seen as Ireland’s leading environmental and
sustainability prize programme.

It celebrates Ireland’s leaders in waste prevention, reuse, circular design, and community-led environmental initiatives.

Castletroy College was nominated after it partnered with University of Limerick and WEEE Ireland on the EMining@School project .

Some 220 second year students were taught across five subjects about urban mining, sustainability, and the circular economy, with smartphones used as a central learning tool.

The school will go up against its near neighbours, the telecoms firm Iqutech in the same category.

Iqutech is being recognised for its work on persuading its client base nationwide to adopt environmental solutions.

Limerick Polymers Production is nominated in the waste recovery operator and facility award, which is sponsored by the Irish
Waste Management Association.

Part of the Feusa Group, it runs Ireland’s first purpose-built plastic recovery facility, processing 70,000 tonnes of
plastic annually into 18 high-purity streams.

The awards ceremony takes place at Dublin's Shelbourne Hotel on October 23.
