WHAT was described as an evening of ‘enjoyment and an excellent evening of learning’, the latest Limerick City and County Council Tidy Towns seminar has received praise from attendees.

Tidy Towns volunteers from across the city and country were able to discuss various points together, followed by feedback sessions and an open discussion with a panel all aimed at sharing ideas for the 2023 application.

The general consensus was positive, with the Mayor of Limerick City and County, Cllr Francis Foley, opening proceedings with a welcome address, followed soon after by a short presentation relating to Public Art.

According to the official Tidy Towns website, the definition of the initiative aim is ‘to encourage communities to improve their local environment and make their area a better place to live, work and visit.’

Sinead Mc Donnell, Environment Awareness Officer at LCCC said: "We are delighted with the engagement of Limerick’s Tidy Towns volunteers in this year’s focus on the sharing of actions between groups and linking them to the UN Sustainability Goals."

The panel members on the night included national Tidy Towns Adjudicator Conor O’Brien, Environment Awareness Officer Sinead McDonnell, Ballyhoura Development Company Rhianna Laubach and Jill Pitcher Farrell, and West Limerick Resources Catriona Skully.

Applications for this year's Tidy Towns competition will open in the coming weeks.
