Sports clubs invited to energy saving and sustainability summit

The free event, which is open to clubs of all sizes and sporting disciplines, will take place this Saturday, September 19, at Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
SE Systems, Ireland’s largest independent provider of energy solutions, is urging sports clubs in Limerick to attend its Sustainable Sporting Summit 2026 – Powering Communities Through Sport, which will provide vital information for clubs trying to cut energy bills.
The free event, which is open to clubs of all sizes and sporting disciplines, will take place this Saturday, September 19, at Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Clubs will receive the chance to receive practical advice on reducing energy costs, accessing grants and making their facilities more sustainable.
Attending clubs are also in with a chance to win €10,000 and €5,000 prizes, or a free energy audit towards a sustainability project.
The summit will be hosted by RTE GAA correspondent Marty Morrissey, and clubs will hear from sporting organisations, sustainability specialists and funding providers to understand the practical steps clubs can take to improve the energy performance of their facilities.
SE Systems has already supported sustainability and energy-efficiency projects with sporting organisations across Limerick, including Abbeyfeale United FC, Manor Fields Adare and Patrickswell GAA, helping clubs identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and improve their facilities.
Keynote contributions will include Fergus McCann, technical manager at SE Systems and representatives from SEAI and Grow Sport, while a panel discussion with Spa, Na Piarsaigh and Clonakilty GAA clubs will explore their experience of implementing energy and sustainability projects.
Clubs will have the opportunity to meet exhibitors including funding providers and industry experts, discuss potential projects one-to-one and learn more about renewable energy, grants, finance and practical upgrades that can lower long-term running costs.
There will also be a chance to see live demonstrations of technologies such as modern LED lighting systems and smart energy controls.
Jake O’Connell, commercial director of SE Systems, said:“Energy is a significant cost for sports clubs and with operating costs continuing to rise, improving energy efficiency can make a real difference to sports clubs and their long-term finances.
"Sports clubs are at the heart of communities across Ireland. Supporting them to reduce costs, improve their facilities and become more sustainable strongly reflects our own community values at SE Systems.
"This summit is about giving clubs practical information they can take away and use, while connecting them directly with the people who can help turn their plans into reality.”
Headquartered in Cork, SE Systems works with homeowners, businesses and public sector organisations to support and implement their energy efficiency plans.
Last month, it announced it will create up to 150 jobs over the next two years as part of a growth strategy that will see annual turnover increase from €50 million to €100 million by 2030.
Clubs can register through Eventbrite.
