University of Limerick-based firm announces new hire as it accellerates expansion

A NEW chief commercial officer has been announced at a manufacturing and logistics software firm based at University of Limerick (UL).

WrxFlo has appointed Ryan O’Reilly as its chief commercial officer, as the company accelerates its expansion.

Earlier this year, the company, based at Nexus Innovation Centre on campus, secured €3m in funding to support its growth in Britain and USA. The money will also support the continued development of its artificial intelligence-powered software as a service platform.

In his new role, Mr O’Reilly will lead WrxFlo’s commercial and sales strategy. He will be responsible for growing its customer base and identifying new opportunities in existing and new markets. The businessman has had a quarter-of-a-century worth of experience, working across Europe, North America and Australia.

He’s worked for a number of blue-chip firms including Dell, Apple and EMC before going into business alone.

Tim Crowe, the co-founder and chief executive of WrxFlo said: “Ryan has spent his career understanding what makes commercial teams perform at their best and, importantly for us, how you build that performance across different markets. He has led sales and commercial functions internationally, worked with some of the world’s leading technology companies and also spent more than eight years running his own consultancy, so he brings experience from several different sides of the commercial world.”

Mr O’Reilly said it was WrxFlo’s “clear ambition for growth” which attracted him to the company.

"The company has already built significant momentum, and for me the opportunity is to build on that and look at how we take WrxFlo to more customers and markets. Much of my career has been spent building and working with commercial and sales teams in technology businesses at different stages of growth. One of the things I have learned is that a strong product is only part of the equation. You also need to be very clear about how you take it to market, how you build the right sales organisation around it and, most importantly, how you demonstrate its value to customers," he said.

Alongside his commercial leadership experience, Mr O’Reilly is an accredited executive coach and holds a qualification in personnel and management coaching from University College Cork. He previously studied marketing management and international trade at the old Limerick Institute of Technology.
