GARDAI are investigating a number of thefts reported across County Limerick.

Garda Stephen Aherne, Community Policing, Henry Street Garda Station said:

“Unfortunately we’ve seen a number of incidents involving thefts from sheds, farmyards and work vehicles across the county. These incidents highlight the importance of securing property, particularly tools and farm equipment, which continue to be attractive targets for criminals.

“One incident occurred overnight between the 20th and 21st of July at Kileedy South, Ballagh, Abbeyfeale, where two rolls of heavy-duty electrical cable and a power washer were stolen from a shed,” added Garda Aherne. “Entry was gained through a roller door that had been left unlocked and, while there was no damage caused, valuable property was taken.”

On the same night, tools including strimmers and hedge cutters were stolen from a shed in the Dromroe area of Ballagh, Abbeyfeale.

Garda Aherne commented: “We also had a report of a high-value cattle trailer stolen from a farmyard between the 20th and 22nd of July. The trailer’s registration plate had been removed before it was taken.”

Gardaí in Abbeyfeale are investigating these thefts and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who may have information about the incidents, tools or trailer’s whereabouts.

There was also an attempted theft involving a trailer in Castleconnell.

“Shortly after 3 o’clock on the morning of the 21st of July, a woman reported that two men entered her yard in the Coolreiry area of Castleconnell and attempted to steal a trailer. Thankfully they were disturbed and fled the scene in a dark-coloured saloon-style car,” concluded Garda Aherne.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area during the early hours of that morning and who may have seen a suspicious vehicle or individuals to contact them.
