When gardaí came upon him, he was 'heavily intoxicated' and 'slurring his words'

A MAN whose level of intoxication made him “a danger to himself and others” has been brought before Limerick District Court.

Christopher Galvin, 38, with an address at Clare Street, St Patrick’s Hostel, Limerick city, was walking on the side of the road in dark clothing at night in the Castleconnell area on August 25, 2025.

When gardaí came upon him, he was “heavily intoxicated”, “slurring his words”, and a “danger to himself and others”.

Prosecuting Sergeant Denis Waters told Judge Patricia Harney that Mr Galvin has 22 previous convictions, including four dangerous driving offences, two for criminal damage, three counts of driving without insurance, two for theft and a previous public order offence.

Solicitor Tom Kiely said that the man is currently serving a four month custodial sentence for a road traffic matter, and asked the judge to be lenient in her sentencing.

Judge Harney convicted and fined the man €200.
