File image: Limerick citizens warned by gardaí
A number of reports have been made of people walking around, checking whether homes or car doors are left unlocked at Limerick housing estates, according to Sergeant Aoife Bannon.
Aoife Bannon - of the community policing unit in Limerick - said that “We know that thieves are always on the lookout for easy opportunities”.
“Our advice remains the same as always – take a moment to check that your car and home doors are locked, especially at night. If you have an intruder alarm, we’d encourage listeners to partset it before going to bed — that way if a door is opened, the alarm will activate.”

The sergeant further advised Limerick homeowners: “please keep keys away from windows and letterboxes - try and always make things as difficult as possible for criminals.”
The sergeant encouraged anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity to report it straight away to 999 or to contact your local Garda station.
