GARDAÍ have issued a renewed warning to homeowners and motorists in Limerick following a number of vehicle thefts, including the theft of a Land Rover from a property in County Limerick.

Sergeant Michelle O Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station said:

"This occurred overnight on Sunday last into Monday, the 2nd of February, at a house in Clarina Village. It’s believed a side door was left unlocked in the home, which allowed the thieves to gain entry and take the keys of two vehicles parked in the driveway and also taking the vehicles themselves."

Sgt O'Halloran continued: "One vehicle, a black Jaguar, has since been recovered. A 2018 black Land Rover remains outstanding."

Gardaí in Patrickswell are investigating and they're asking anyone with information to contact Patrickswell Garda Station on 061 355103 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Another vehicle was stolen from a shopping centre car park on the Dublin Road.

The local crime prevention officer stated: "On Saturday the 31st of January, a woman in her twenties parked her vehicle at around 2pm. When she returned just after half five, she discovered her car, a 2013 white Toyota, had been stolen and has not yet been recovered. Gardaí at Henry Street are currently investigating."

Sgt O'Halloran has advised motorists to always lock your car and take your keys with you, even if you’re just stepping away for a short time. "Park in well-lit, secure areas whenever possible, with CCTV in area. Never leave spare keys inside the vehicle, and consider using a steering wheel lock or immobiliser."

"Report suspicious activity immediately to your local Garda station."
