The driver of this vehicle was stopped by Limerick Roads Policing this bank holiday Monday
LIMERICK Roads Policing were out bright and early this bank holiday Monday to clock two motorists driving over 50kms above the speed limit.
A post on the An Garda Siochana Limerick Instagram account reads: “Two stops. Two fines. Same lesson.”

One driver was caught travelling at 151kms in a 100km zone. A second was going marginally quicker at 152kms, again in a 100km zone.
“€160 fine and three penalty points each. Fast driving costs more than you think,” concludes the post on social media.
An Garda Síochána and Road Safety Authority launched a road safety appeal ahead of the August bank holiday weekend
A total of 95 people have been killed in fatal road collisions so far this year with an increase in the number of vulnerable road users being killed on Irish roads.
The appeal came as the RSA published their 2025 half yearly report which analyses fatalities from January 1 to July 27. This report shows that the number of those killed aged 46-65 is now the highest in six years.
In contrast, there has been a year-on-year reduction in the number of young people (25 years old or less) being fatally injured in collisions. A quarter of the 95 people that have lost their lives this year were in this age range – 14 fewer fatalities than this time last year.
35 drivers, 22 pedestrians, 17 motorcyclists, eight cyclists, eight passengers and one e-scooter rider have been killed. This shows an increase among vulnerable road users - cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists.
Additional findings include 27% of fatalities occurred between 12pm and 4pm; 26% of all fatalities occurred between 8pm and 4am when traffic volumes tend to be lower; and Friday through Monday saw the greatest number of fatalities
Over half (56%) of all fatalities occurred on 80km/h and 100kmh roads.
