Much loved charity box and familiar face in Limerick shopping centre stolen in the city

Garda Brendan Carmody and Lucky the dog

LUCKY the dog — the beloved donation box fixture at Arthur’s Quay Shopping Centre for nearly three decades was stolen but swiftly recovered this morning thanks to a fast and focused response from Gardaí.

For nearly 30 years, Lucky the dog has been quietly standing guard at Arthur’s Quay, raising funds for Limerick Animal Welfare.

Without missing a beat, Garda Brendan Carmody launched into action when Lucky was stolen earlier today, tracking down the charity box in record time. Thanks to his quick thinking, Lucky was safely recovered and is now back where he belongs — though with a little battle scar, a broken ear.

With some TLC, Lucky will be back to doing what he does best — raising funds for Limerick Animal Welfare and bringing smiles to everyone in Arthur’s Quay.
