GARDAI are investigating the latest arson attack in Limerick city which occurred in broad daylight.

A video of the brazen attack, which occurred in the Garryowen area of the city, has been widely shared on social media.

It shows a masked individual dressed all in black throwing a Molotov cocktail into the side garden of the property.

A second person, who is obscured by a jeep they had pulled up in, throws a homemade explosive device into the front garden of the house.

The sounds of the petrol bombs smashing can be heard and the flames shooting up into the sky can be seen on the short clip.

The perpetrators then jump into the black vehicle and take off at speed. The driver goes straight out onto a main road without stopping and speeds off. The road is adjacent to a soccer pitch.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí received a report of an incident of criminal damage that occurred on the afternoon of Friday, June 13, 2025 in the Garryowen area of Limerick city. No injuries were reported.”

The garda spokesperson said “investigations are ongoing”.

It is not known if the arson attack is connected to an ongoing feud involving rival groupings, centred around the Ballinacurra Weston area, which has seen a series of pipe bomb and arson attacks on cars and homes, as well as shootings, in recent months.
