Limerick man pleads guilty to sex attacks on daughter and sister-in-law

A MAN in his sixties has pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting his sister-in-law and sexually assaulting his daughter in County Limerick.

The accused was arraigned before Judge Colin Daly in Limerick Criminal Circuit Court on Monday morning.

The man said “guilty” when the court registrar put each of the 11 indecent assault charges in relation to his sister-in-law, and seven counts of sexual assault of his daughter, to the man.

The offences occurred on dates in the 1980s and 1990s in locations in County Limerick.

Prosecuting barrister Lily Buckley, instructed by State solicitor Brendan Gill, applied for reporting restrictions on the name of the defendant to protect the identities of the victims due to the family relationship.

“There will be victim impact statement evidence,” said Ms Buckley, who made an application for the accused to be put on the sex offenders register.

Ms Buckley asked for the matter to go back to this Tuesday for the purpose of fixing a date for sentencing.

A date of March 14 was set down.

Judge Colin Daly made an order that nothing should be reported that would identify either of the complainants and placed the defendant on the sex offenders register.
