FIREWORKS and ammunition was discovered in the Castleconnell area of the county, Limerick Live has learned.
A search operation was carried out by Limerick gardai with the assistance of the Irish Defence Forces.
A spokesperson for the Defence Forces confirmed bomb disposal experts from the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team responded to a request for assistance from An Garda Síochána.
They said it was in relation to items found in the Limerick area.
“Following an assessment by the EOD team a quantity of fireworks and non-defence forces ammunition was disposed of, and the scene was handed over to An Garda Siochana. This operation has now concluded,” said the Defence Forces spokesperson.
