Chips are down for burglar who spent 13 hours stuck in vent at Limerick takeaway

PRISON food could be on the menu for a burglar who got stuck while breaking into a takeaway restaurant in Dooradoyle, Limerick Live has learned.

It is understood the perpetrator attempted to gain entry to the premises some time after midnight this Wednesday morning. However, it is thought that he got stuck in an air vent and spent around 13 hours stewing and venting.

The alarm was raised around 1pm this Wednesday afternoon. Limerick Fire and Rescue Service and gardai responded with firefighters having to use a hydraulic platform to remove the man from the vent.

Paramedics with the National Ambulance Service also attended.

Gardaí confirmed officers investigating an incident at a business premises in Dooradoyle, Limerick city, arrested a man.

“The man, aged in his 40s, who was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Limerick, has since been charged.

“He is due to appear before Limerick District Court, Court No. 6, at 10.30am tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 7.

“Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.
