Two further charges were put to Niamh McDonnell at the circuit court this Thursday morning - drug driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
A FEMALE motorist has pleaded guilty to two further charges in relation to a road traffic collision that left a senior Limerick garda - Inspector Niall Flood - with life-changing injuries.
Niamh McDonnell, aged 30, of Gortskagh, Castlemahon had already pleaded guilty, at Limerick Circuit Court, to dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm and drink driving.
The offences occurred at Clonmore, Dromcollogher on June 30, 2022.
Two further charges were put to her at the circuit court this Thursday morning - drug driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
Ms McDonnell said “guilty” when the two charges were put to her by the court registrar. While no evidence was given in court, it is alleged that McDonnell was the driver of a vehicle and that Insp Flood was cycling at the time.
Prosecuting barrister Lily Buckley said the case would take approximately half a day at sentencing.
Brian McInerney SC represented Ms McDonnell during the short procedural matter. Mr McInerney said his client has been engaging with the Probation Service.
Judge Tom O’Donnell fixed a sentencing date in November.
