The current bye-laws date from 2015, and now need to be reviewed in the context of Limerick City and County Council’s Burial Ground Strategy
LIMERICK CITY and County Council (LCCC) has opened a public consultation to review its Cemetery Bye Laws.
The current bye-laws, introduced in 2015, are being updated to reflect the Council’s Burial Ground Strategy and address emerging issues and developments.
The consultation is live and will run until Sunday, January 11, 2026, on the Council’s online portal: Mypoint.Limerick.ie.

The review will consider the rights and responsibilities of all stakeholders to ensure clarity, fairness, and effective cemetery management.
The goal is to engage the public and key stakeholders in shaping a set of bye-laws that will serve the community for the next five years.
The updated bye-laws will align with relevant legislation and regulations, clearly outline key provisions, and incorporate feedback from the consultation process.
Following this consultation, submissions will be reviewed, and a draft of the revised Cemetery Bye Laws will be published for further public feedback before final approval by the Council.
