Murroe Scouts have been writing, recording and rehearsing in workshops
WHAT'S the chill down the back of your neck? Who made that noise in the woods? Find out in this Culture Night event with Murroesome, a spooky audio tour of Murroe.
Stories written and read by youth members from the 14th Limerick Murroe-Boher Scout Group will be dotted around the village for you to discover. You will hear tales of nits, murders, and zombie fish and all you need is your phone, headphones, and a hearty dose of courage!
For Culture Night, they will be bringing attendees on a guided tour of their spooky tales. Come join them for an early taste of Halloween with Murroesome at the community hall in Murroe at 6pm this Friday night. No booking is required.
Elke Hayes, deputy group leader 14th Limerick Murroe-Boher Scout Group, said the aim of the project was to put together an audiotrail based on lies, one which knitted together spine-chilling tales written by their scouts about various locations in Murroe village with the help of two artists - author and illustrator Cethan Leahy and composer/percussionist Alex Petcu.
"Children from our Cub, Scout and Venture Scout sections were invited to take part in a number of workshops on story writing, use of audio-recording technology, and sound effects. Ultimately, this resulted in six stories being selected to be part of the final audiotrail," said Elke.
The Culture Night event this Friday - possibly the first time Murroe has featured - will give people a sneak peek at what the Scouts have been working on over the past year. It was funded by the Arts Council Young People, Children & Education (YPCE) Project Award.
The official launch of the project will take place closer on October 20 but for anyone that is feeling brave enough for a preview, all are welcome to come along to Murroe hall at 6pm sharp this Friday and they will bring you on a spooky audio-journey through the village.
