Five-try Munster 'A' secure exciting draw with Leinster 'A' in interprovincial clash

THE Munster ‘A’ side scored five tries in playing out an exciting 33-33 draw with Leinster 'A' in Friday’s Interprovincial Series clash at the Rockwell College 4G pitch.

Home side Munster 'A' led the contest 26-7 at half-time at the Tipperary venue. The home side scored four first half tries through Diarmuid Kilgallen, who bagged a brace, team captain Evan O'Connell and Eoghan Smyth. 

Out-half Tony Butler added three conversions. Andrew Osborne scored the first half try for Leinster.

Munster 'A' scored a further try in the second half through Luke Murphy with Tony Butler converting.

Visitors Leinster, who trailed 12-33 at one stage, had second half tries from John McKee, Hugh Cooney, Andrew Osborne and Josh Ericson.

Friday’s game was Munster A’s second game of the competition after they came from 26-0 down to earn a thrilling 26-all draw with Leinster A when the sides met at Old Belvedere in October.

Limerick man Evan O’Connell captained the side with 12 Academy and nine senior players included in the 25-man squad.

Garryowen pair Rory Woods and Billy Hayes were included among the replacements along with Shannon’s Alex Lautsou and Young Munster’s John Poland.
