Limerick players impress as Munster juniors make winning start to interpro series

Newcastle West's Shane Airey impressed in Munster junior's interprovincial win over Connacht in Westport

LIMERICK players impressed as Munster made an impressive start to their Junior Interprovincial series with a 32-8 win against Connacht in Westport.

There were seven new caps in the starting XV, six in the back line, including Newcastle West's Aaron Rice as well as Ben Daly (Waterpark); Brian P O’Sullivan (Kanturk), Brian J O’Sullivan (Kanturk), Laszio Rabatin (Old Christians) and Frank Horgan (Muskerry), with Jack Lonergan (Old Christians) making his debut in the pack.

Tries by Kevin Kinnane and Brian P O’Sullivan along with two penalties and a conversion by Shane Airey, of Newcastle West, had Munster 18-3 ahead at halftime.

Ben Daly and Brian J O’Sullivan added further tries to secure the bonus point victory, with Adam Guerin, of St Mary's, converting both.

Munster will host Leinster this weekend at Ballinakill (Waterpark RFC) and finish their campaign on May 10 with a trip to Dromore to face Ulster.
