The Munster Senior Challenge Cup final takes place at Thomond Park this Sunday

OLD Crescent will look to secure an historic first Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup title when facing Nenagh Ormond in a novel final pairing at Thomond Park this Sunday, 2.30pm.

A new name will be written on the famous old trophy following this weekend's decider as neither of the two finalists have won the Cup previously.

Ahead of Sunday's provincial final, Old Crescent sit in seventh place in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League, while Nenagh Ormond are second in Division 1B.

2009 finalists Old Crescent booked their place in this weekend's final thanks to a 36-5 semi-final victory over Clonmel at Takumi Park last month. Crescent led 8-0 with 10 minutes remaining.

Jamie Duggan scored two tries for the Limerick side in added time, while Joe McEnery, Karl Madden and Ben Davey also dotted down. Ronan McKenna kicked four conversions and a penalty.

2023 finalists Nenagh Ormond secured their Munster Senior Cup final place by defeating Young Munster 32-31 in a thrilling semi-final at Clifford Park with Conor McMahon kicking the decisive penalty five minutes from the end to decide the contest.
Old Crescent had a smooth enough road to the semi-finals as they were drawn in the three team Group Four with two Cork sides in Dolphin RFC and Midleton.

The Takumi Park side kicked off their campaign with a win over Dolphin with a scoreline of 31-26. They also defeated Midleton 14-24 in Tanner Park to top their group.

All-Ireland League Division 1B high-flyers Nenagh Ormond topped Group One of the Munster Senior Cup by overcoming AIL champions Cork Constitution, Highfield and Shannon.

Nenagh began with a 29-22 win over Highfield, before taking on on Cork Con in New Ormond Park who they beat comfortably with a scoreline of 31-12.

Finally, in the group stages, Nenagh travelled to Coonagh and defeated Shannon 5-45.
