THERE was just one Limerick success, recorded by Bruff in Division 2C, on a dramatic day of round 11 energia All-Ireland League action on Saturday.
In Division 1A, play-off chasing Young Munster suffered a blow as the Greenfields side suffered a disappointing 20-35 home defeat to St Mary's College at Clifford Park.
The result sees sixth-placed Munsters' sit six points off the final top four play-off place which is currently occupied by Terenure College.
Young Munsters, who led visitors St Mary's College 17-5 at half-time, scored three tries in all, including a brace for winger Oisin Pepper, while full-back Stephen Lyons also dotted down. Out-half Julian Leszczynski added a penalty goal and conversion.
Also in the top flight, relegation-threatened Garryowen fell to a heavy 43-10 defeat to Cork Constitution at Temple Hill.
Garryowen, who have won just one of their 11 AIL fixtures this season, prop up the top flight table, five points behind UCD in ninth, while the Light Blues are eight points adrift of eighth-placed City of Armagh.
Garryowen trailed Cork Con 10-19 at half-time on Leeside, but the visitors failed to add to their points tally in the second period as their Munster rivals racked up 24 unanswered points. Cork Con finished the game with seven tries.
Garryowen's first half points came through an Oisin McCormack try, while a penalty goal and conversion were added by Jack Oliver.
In Division 1B, another Limerick side in danger of relegation, Shannon, had to make-do with taking a losing bonus point from their narrow 22-24 defeat to Old Belvedere at Thomond Park.
Shannon sit in bottom spot in the 1B table, with two wins from their opening 11 league fixtures. The Parish side trailed second-from-bottom Highfield by three points and are seven points adrift of eighth-placed Dublin University in the battle for survival.
Shannon trailed Belvo' 3-17 at half-time, the home side's points in the opening 40 scored through a Jamie Gavin penalty.
To their credit, a resilient Shannon scored 19 points in the second half as replacement Oisin Minogue crossed for a hat-trick of tries, while Gavin added two conversions. The game had been level, 17-17, after 47 minutes.
Meanwhile, Old Crescent came away from Parsonstown empty-handed after MU Barnhall emerged 22-10 winners of their Division 2A round 11 fixture.
Old Crescent have dropped to eighth-placed in the table as a result of this defeat in Co Kildare, with the Takumi Park side eight points clear of Ballymena in ninth spot, while the Rosbrien team enjoy an 18-point advantage over basement side Buccaneers.
Crescent left themselves facing an uphill battle for the second half, as MU Barnhall led 15-0 at the interval. The Limerick side had a try from Daithi Byrnes, while Ronan McKenna kicked a penalty and converted the try.
In Division 2B, UL-Bohemian suffered a 13-23 loss to Dungannon at Stevenson Park.
The result has seen the promotion-chasing Red, Red Robins drop to fourth spot in the table, just one point behind third-placed Clogher Valley, with the Annacotty side now just three points ahead of the sides down to seventh-placed Skerries.
UL-Bohs, who trailed Dungannon 6-10 at half-time, had two first half penalties from Oisin Fagan.
Fagan also converted Kian Regan's second half try.
Bruff recorded the only Limerick success on Saturday after scoring an exciting 23-20 victory over Omagh Academicals at Thomas Mellon Playing Fields.
The result has seen Bruff remain in eighth-place in the table, four points clear of second-from-bottom Tullamore.
Bruff trailed Omagh 9-12 at half-time at Thomas Mellon Playing Fields. Paul Collins scored one of two Bruff tries and added 13 points with the boot to bring his haul of points for the day to 18.
The in-form Cillian Rea also crossed the whitewash as the Kilballyowen Park side recorded a gritty victory.
