Next up for the Limerick camogie side is a trip to the Faithful Fields to face Offaly this Saturday at 2pm.

Limerick withstood a strong down fightback and challenging weather conditions to come away with a two-point win in their league opener. Donna Kenny was in fine form scoring eight points, with Laura Sothern (x2) and Rebecca Delee (x2) chipping in with Limerick's other scores on the day.

Debutant manager David Deady was happy with his side's performance saying, "you need games like this to discover the character of a team."

"We had a healthy lead at half-time, conditions worsened severely in the second half unfortunately which made it difficult for us to retain ball in the forward line in the second half, but credit to them, they dug in in the second half and to hold off the opposition, but delighted to get off the mark with a win.

"There were a few nerves today with it being the first day out for a few of them, there were a few debuts, so all in all there are a lot of positives to take from the day.

"We were delighted to get that first win, the girls worked really hard, they have a good pre-season done.

"That effort today was a squad effort so we're delighted with it, you can't beat a game like that," Deady told Leader Sport.
