LIMERICK'S junior camogie side have already captured the Munster Junior Championship this season, but manager David Deady is certain that his side can aim for more success in the All-Ireland Championship. A win against Mayo this Saturday would set the team up well.

The junior team had a thrilling win, 1-11 to 0-13, over Cork in their Munster Championship final with the sliverware acting as the perfect remedy to a disappointing League final defeat.

Manger Deady told Leader Sport: “The girls had a seven to eight-week gap between the League final and the Munster one and the win against Cork has come at the perfect time. It was one of our targets to claim that sliverware and it has instilled a huge amount of belief in the group. That kind of a win does a huge amount for girls at this young age and it give them an appetite to get more Cups.”

The side face their opening game of the All-Ireland Premier Junior Championship on Saturday, May 25 in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale against Mayo.

Speaking about the opening round robin fixture, Deady went on to say: “We played Mayo away last year in the third round of the championship and it was a very close game that we came out on top in.

“Of course we are expecting a very tough challenge again this Saturday with Mayo coming down the road, they aren't coming down to make-up the numbers, but we feel very prepared and the girls are eager to get going and show how much the training they have been doing all year has benefited them.”

Limerick will have four other group games to play during the All-Ireland Premier Junior Championship with two other home matches against Roscommon and Laois before a trip to Cavan. The top three from the group progress to the final and semi-finals respectively.

Changes to the squad will have to be made with six girls out sitting their Leaving Cert and both Lisa English, from Galbally, and Laoise Fitzgibbon, from Granagh- Ballingarry, out with injuries at present.
