Three branches of EBS in Limerick city set to benefit from investment

LIMERICK’S three branches of EBS are set to be upgraded as part of a multi-million euro investment from its parent company, AIB.

AIB is investing €26m into its branch network and EBS offices over the next two years.

It’s a move the lender says, demonstrates its commitment to customer focused innovation and supporting communities across Ireland.

Some 32 of its EBS offices are in this number, including Limerick’s offerings at Parkway Shopping Centre, Crescent Shopping Centre and at William Street in the city centre.

As part of the upgrade, there will be modern banking halls, clear interaction spaces and improved privacy for customers.

New cash and cheque lodgement machines will also be introduced.

AIB’s managing director, retail banking, Geraldine Casey said: “At AIB, we are proud to be digital first and human when it matters. While we continue to invest in innovative digital solutions for the convenience of our customers, we understand the vital role our 170 branches and 66 EBS offices play in supporting communities across Ireland.

“Our ongoing branch investment programme is a clear demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that customers have access to personal, face-to-face support and modern, warm and welcoming facilities in the heart of their towns and villages.

“By enhancing our branch network, we are investing not just in technology, but in our customers and our communities, which matters most to us.”

EBS originally stood for Educational Building Society, and it was an Irish mortgage and savings institution.

It was acquired by AIB in 2011.

As a result, the firm operates as a mortgage brand under AIB, focusing mainly on home loans and savings products rather than full banking services.

AIB decided to keep the EBS brand, which dates back to 1935, when it made the acquisition.
